The national kidney foundation (NKF) held their screening booth in conjunction with the world kidney day that falls on the 10th of March annually. The booth was held 3 days later than the actual day since they targeted a pleasant Sunday.

AMSA Malaysia continued their collaboration with the NKF by participating in the recently concluded World Kidney Day clinical booth at Sunway pyramid. We were proud to send 18 volunteers who helped out on various segments around the clinical booth area.Among the jobs of the volunteers were to be in charge for the registration, usher the people to their destinations and filling up forms. The more sophisticated tasks were handled by the more professional staff of NKF

We were placed in the second shift, which means that we are on duty from 1pm to 7pm, in contrast to the previous group from IMU that took the early shift. There was a 1 hour break for us to relax that differed from one volunteer to another.

The event was a huge success which saw 554 people undergo screening in the one day program that started at 10am and concluded at 7pm. The various test that can be done at the booth were BMI measurement, urine dipstick test, blood test for glucose and cholesterol levels, blood pressure and counseling.

The juniors were thrilled by the experience, especially an event held by NKF. Many are fresh faces at clinical booths as most of the volunteers are from the 1st years. Hope that they can remember all the lessons and tips provided by the professionals throughout the duty.
